Immaculate is a seasoned agriculture and rural development practitioner with over two decades of extensive professional experience in extension services delivery, gender and development, agri-food systems, agribusiness, rural innovations, and the adoption and scale-up of agricultural technologies to enhance rural livelihoods. She is proficient in socio-economic research, agriculture policy formulation, development, and implementation. She has a proven track record in project and program development and implementation, resource mobilization, partnership building, stakeholder engagement, as well as applied research and policy analysis within agriculture systems. She possesses outstanding abilities in strategic thinking, leadership, networking, and communication. Currently, Dr. Maina serves as the Area Program Manager at DanChurchAid, Nakuru Office. In this capacity, she oversees the comprehensive implementation of all projects, with a specific focus on ensuring high-quality execution and efficient resource utilization. Previously, she held the position of County Executive Committee Member (County Minister) in charge of Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries and Veterinary Services in Nakuru County. In this role, she was responsible for the implementation of all county and relevant national legislation, and leading the county technical team to effectively deliver on all agricultural activities in Nakuru County. She has also served as the Centre Director of the National Food Research Centre, Njoro, within the Kenya Agricultural and Livestock Research Organization (KALRO). Dr. Maina has an extensive publication record, featuring works in reputable outlets such as the Institute of Development Studies (IDS), UK, the Springer Food Security Journal, Earthscan, Journal of Agricultural Extension and Rural Development, African Crop Science Journal, Margraf Publishers, and Applied Anthropology. Immaculate holds a Doctorate Degree in Agriculture from Justus-Liebig University, Giessen, Germany Faculty of Agricultural Sciences, Nutritional Sciences, and Environmental Management. This was through a DAAD Scholarship. She also holds an MSc. in Agricultural Extension and an undergraduate degree from the Faculty of Education and Community Studies at Egerton University, Kenya.
