John Riungu is an accomplished agricultural and rural development professional with more than 15 years of experience designing and implementing programs in climate-smart agriculture, food security and livelihoods, value chain development and market-driven interventions across Kenya and the East Africa region.

He has played a pivotal role in establishing strategic partnerships with government agencies, private sector actors and development partners to drive policies and actions that enhance the sustainability and resilience of rural producers.

John currently serves as the project coordinator for the Loss2Value (L2V) Project at DCA Kenya, an initiative aimed at reducing food loss and waste among smallholder horticultural farmers. In this role, he provides strategic and operational leadership to field teams across two counties, fostering innovation in cold chain solutions and inclusive market systems.

John holds a bachelor’s degree in agribusiness management and a postgraduate diploma in climate change adaptation, resilience and mitigation coupled with hands-on experience working on community initiatives that promote resilience building.
